Generic: miglitol

Class: Alpha-glucosidase inhibitors

Supplied in: 25 mg. 50 mg, 100 mg

Action: Blocks the enzyme that digest starches in the small intestine.

Duration:Starts working in 30 minutes and lasts 20 or more hours

Timing: take with meals

Side Effects: Flatulence or abdominal discomfort

Precautions: Don’t take them with inflammatory bowel disease or cirrhosis.
