Class: exenatide injection, GLP-1 agonist

Supplied in: 5 mcg, 10 mcg

Action: Used in type 2 diabetes to signal the pancreas to make the right amount of insulin, it also stops the liver from producing too much sugar, reduces appetite, slows how quickly the glucose enters the bloodstream after a meal.

Timing: inject within 60 minutes of meals, twice daily.

Side Effects: Nausea, hypoglycemia, vomiting, dizziness, headache, pancreatitis, renal impairment, severe gastrointestinal disease.

Note: Nausea typically decreases over time.
