  Vitamins and Minerals

Vitamins and minerals are important for our overall health, but in this case there can also be too much of a good thing. The right amounts of vitamins and minerals can be very helpful in controlling diabetes. You should try to get between 100-200% of the RDA for each nutrient. Too much can cause toxic symptoms, and too little can cause deficiency symptoms.

You can ensure you are getting all nutrients by eating a variety of healthy foods including lean meats and fish, nuts, seeds, beans, low fat dairy, whole grains, and 5-9 servings of fruits and vegetables every day (1 serving=1 cup).
